Perez: You don’t give to be blessed. You don’t fast to move mountains. Anything we do as a condition precedent to get from God is indirectly saying that redemption and all that Jesus did was not enough. We have to do more.

J Dust: You can’t do these things except by prayer and fasting sha

Perez: Remember that Jesus Christ made this statement before the cross; before redemption. Jesus Christ was the last of the Old Testament prophets.  Am I saying that fasting is wrong?  No!!!! I’m saying that we must remove works mentality from all of our Christian devotion and services. We are not blessed because of the things we do. We are blessed because of what Jesus did. All we do must be with the love response mentality

J Dust: So are you saying people like Adeboye and Oyedepo who fast and pray for days do not need to do that?  We should all just calm down and be serving God… No stress

Olaronke: Why do people fast though? What’s the motive?

J Dust: To do those things that only fasting can do

Olaronke: Things like?

J Dust: You can’t compare the power you can wield as a Christian who fasts compared to someone who doesn’t.  I can’t explain but tell me someone who doesn’t fast and he is operating perpetually in the supernatural

J Dust: I feel Christians are no longer having that power like the apostles cos we have neglected some spiritual exercises….like prayer and fasting. It is why Fulani herdsmen can just be embarrassing us anyhow. Can they try that nonsense with Elijah? It is fire that will burn their lives to ashes

J Dust: It is why I love my new church. The way they emphasize on prayer and fasting… It is like a spiritual awakening for me. Yes  you can pray and fast and not have results oh,  but if we add prayer and fasting to the right foundation… We will see amazing results…

TeeSala: This is apt… You can’t access the supernatural just anyhow… There are rules.

TeeSala: Beyond natural

Olaronke: For example???

J Dust: Can you raise the dead? Can you pray and receive instant healing?

Olaronke: Okay?

J Dust: The list is endless… Can you operate like the apostles did? Check the Bible and look up the miracles of Jesus, the apostles and the prophets…Armed robbers come to rob a Christian and they go scot free. Who they born well to attack Apostle Paul, You will rot and worms will come out of your body

TeeSala: I wouldn’t be drawn into this new school Christianity talk today. Prayer and Fasting isn’t negotiable. Life isn’t just about what we can see there are unseen forces, that’s the supernatural.

J Dust: Thank you!!!  Life is totally hinged on the fourth dimension… Whoever conquers the fourth dimension rules the life that we see… What we don’t see rules what we see…

Titi: It’s a spiritual exercise. You take your mind off things that please the flesh and try to focus on God. I even feel there’s a better chemistry explanation for it sef. But there are days I want to believe fasting is a waste of time. But then I remember what Jesus said to his disciples… and then I also look at what some men of God are doing. Then I realise it is necessary. However, what I don’t necessarily agree with for now is that it has to be staying off food.

TeeSala: And watching movies?

J Dust: What is fasting if it is not from food?

Titi: My point is, it’s not the staying off food that makes it fasting jare. Don’t coman twist what I’m saying

J Dust: So what is now fasting if it is not staying off food?  Fast (v): abstain from all or some kinds of food or drink, especially as a religious observance.  Abstain from food, refrain from eating, deny oneself food, go without food, go hungry, eat nothing, starve oneself; go on hunger strike; be deprived of all or some kinds of food, especially for medical or experimental reasons.  In medical science,  some experimental procedures/surgical procedures/administration of some drugs require the subject or patient to be fasted either over night OR for a period of time. In the case of laboratory animals their food is removed including their beddings to ensure they don’t eat anything. They only have access to water.  So I’m surprised when I hear people say  fasting is not about food.

Olaronke: I agree with you people o, there is no doubt that fasting and praying is essential. Even Bible say prayer na master key…

TeeSala: Bible didn’t say Prayer na master key… Any biblical reference?

Olaronke: But Jesus raised Lazarus without necessarily praying and fasting. Bible talk say he went about doing things before hin get time for Lazarus.

J Dust:  Is it not the same Jesus that fasted 40 days and night? You think Jesus didn’t even fast after that… Jesus was constantly going to the mountain to pray all night. You think raising Lazarus was just by doing 10 minutes devotion by force in the morning only and doing instagram and twitter all day?

Olaronke: Yep I have prayed and received instant healing at the point that I thought I might even pass out. Now I am not disputing the power of prayer and fasting o… both get power but I think you can still exercise your authority as a child of God without necessarily having to do both.  I think our greatest undoing as Christians is that we fail to know the power and authority we carry as Children of the most High God. We carry so much power, so much so that bible say whatever we bind on earth is bind in heaven….

J Dust: I’m not saying you can’t do any supernatural thing without prayer and fasting… Eventually it is all about your faith and the level of your walk with God… But you cannot CONTINUOUSLY operate in the supernatural if you don’t fast. Period. By the way, fasting doesn’t change God. It changes us. See it as a ferry. I can choose to swim but a speed boat will take me across faster. Fasting is the speed boat. It subjects your flesh and make you so Spirit filled and the more continuously you are Spirit filled the more you can operate in the supernatural

Olaronke: I think Christians exercise their authority and power in fear and that’s why we hardly see result. Approach the throne with all confidence and see the difference

J Dust: It is not by knowing your authority…. Boost it with fasting… And then you can go get money from the mouth of the fish like Jesus

Olaronke: If you think it’s not by knowing your authority and power, then there is nothing really I can say anymore. E be like say This Christian race works for us differently

J Dust: If it is working for you. Edakun let me too just know the authority. I like food edakun

Olaronke: I know it baje!!! Works for me too. My life is a testimony!

J Dust: I believe I know my authority in God but I am not getting results like them Oyedepo and Adeboye… Why???  Just logic… They are doing something I am not doing. What is it?

Perez: I don’t know why we like to twist things or choose to understand it the way we want. Call it new Christian talk, it’s your opinion. I never said we should not fast. Living a fasted life is great. Even secret society folks fast. What I’m saying is, like we don’t give to get blessed, we give because we’ve are blessed people. We don’t fast to access more power. Saying that or having such mentality is saying what Jesus did on the cross to buy our redemption is not enough, we must fast join to make it up. Fasting is good. It keeps the flesh under so that the spirit will blossom. A life whose spirit blossom is in tune with God who is a Spirit. So, the supernatural becomes our daily reality… But it is not just in the fasting…  It is in engaging in those things that grows the spirit and reduce the flesh. Fasting is just one of them. Constant study of the word , our love walk is the more important than them all

Olaronke: I agree with Perez… fasting is good but I think we shouldn’t see God as if I do this He will do that…God is God and good regardless of what you do. Am I saying don’t work out your salvation or just sit at home and do nothing? Nope. I am simply saying I think we need to stop doing things solely because of the mentality to get back from God. That makes it more difficult and then we go like I have done all I can and yet nothing, while not just rest in His promises  and see Him blow your mind

Perez: We have people that fast 3months and are bitter neighbours…  Is it in the fast?  Love is the fuel that powers faith

Titi: Have you met some people who just became Christians and are operating on a different and higher level than those that have been Christians forever. Have you ever wondered why?  It’s not like they’ve had the opportunity to fast for 40days o.

Olaronke: I don’t fast as much as I pray but hey… I pray in the middle of the night, I cast and bind, I make declarations and I believe they works instantly but then I still don’t attach all the things happening in my life to my works but rather to God’s goodness

J Dust: Please come and teach me your ways… I like food too edakun

Perez: Like the new tradition in our churches today that every month, people are doing 50days,  30days,  100days fast. I even heard a church that did one year… Like,  oya ooh,  let’s settle God ooh. It’s another year. This to me is works mentality. I dare say that a man or woman that knows who he/she is in Christ, understood what Jesus did for him in redemption and appreciates his believer’s authority, he will raise the dead. Cast out demons. All you need is knowledge and confidence in the name of Jesus

Titi: Then again, I’m very sure when people talk about fasting it’s not about getting back from God o. For me, when I think about fasting, I’m telling myself to focus on God, let go of the things that are holding you back from going. For me, it’s like pruning, and watering. It’s what helps some people stay focused, and then that way their relationship with God gets better because they use those times to get to know and understand God more. That way they can operate the way they should

Perez: That’s the right mentality. Not everyone sees fasting from this light

Titi: Sometimes things are happening around me. And I’m like you know what, God take charge and then I go and sleep. And everything works out fine at the end of the day.

Perez: We are each called by God to fulfill different ministry. There’s no such thing as ‘big man of God ‘with God. We are the ones that classify. God doesn’t reward based on the size of our congregation. He rewards faithfulness and obedience and he judges our motive!

J Dust: Bro there is rank oh… Bone that thing… You can’t command some things in the spiritual realm like dem Oyedepos can… Respect the rank please. They are not your mates

Perez: God’s kingdom is built on equality.

J Dust: I used to think like that too… That as a Christian I am equal to any other Christian… I had to learn even among children… There are first borns. In the army there are colonels, brigadier generals and sergeants… A seargent should never start telling a general that shebi all of us are soldiers na he should not salute him… He will fast for 40 days in guard room ehn. You can claim equality when you can do the same spiritual feats as these men of God. Until then, sit down and be humble (I hope this is not rude ?)

Perez: To God be the glory, the kingdom of God has its own dynamics. We are joint heirs with Christ and as He is, so am I in this world. We all have the same measure of faith, it behoves on us to grow our faith and when we’ve been proven, more responsibilities will be given us. Jesus said as He is,  so I’m I. That’s too much. Listen,  I choose to align with Jesus and not the doctrines of men

TeeSala: Baba, show working…

J Dust: Are you like Jesus @Perez? Have you been able to even do one-tenth of what Jesus did on earth

J Dust: I’m sorry. I’m just saying even though we are supposed to be like Christ we are not actually operating like Christ. Meaning we have to ‘work’ to attain that rank. We are becoming like Christ every day. Some are closer than others… Because of the ‘work’ they have done… Hence are higher in rank than us. The rank is not dependent on when you gave your life to Christ but how much of Christ you have imbibed in you. Jesus is the word… And the word was God… The more of his word we have in us and allow work in us the more like Christ we become… The more we build ourselves on this most holy faith the more like Christ we become…. The work is not denying what Christ has done… But it is just like a lawyer enforcing the Will of dead rich man. You don’t just  sit down and just say I am the son of this rich man I will automatically inherit my father’s wealth.  You have to key into the will and make sure it is enforced. Ok maybe I’m not making sense again. All Christians are equal but some are more equal

Cynthia Omo: Should we fast? Of course, we should. Should we do it like that’s the only way God can hear us? I don’t think so. I see fasting as a sort of Christian discipline. Sometimes I’m like Cynthia, you’ve been doing too much movies lately, you should do a movie fast.  Same for food. Plus, there are times I feel I have really special requests to make especially on behalf of others, I take a fast for them.

TeeSala: We that are now doing 100 days nko oo?

Titi: Redeemed abi? I tried that thing one year and I lost focus. I just realised I was losing weight and I wasn’t even fasting in the real sense. Na real hunger strike

J Dust: You mean you were disappearing?

Titi: Exactly. It remained small for me to disappear off the face of earth

J Dust: No oh… You can’t go off the face of the earth oh…you will just be walking around invisible to everyone …like a ghost… But in your case… If people jam you you will fall.

Titi: You are rude

J Dust: It is ur elder sister that is rude. Titi that just did 2 weeks’ fasting one time… And her neck starting having holes like the shape of a tea cup.
