Despite the chaos and events of 2021, the Afro Gospel music scene emerges even stronger boasting a standard calibre of budding and established artiste sure to make waves in the gospel industry come 2022.
2021 the year after the lock-down was a little tough for the Afro Gospel industry as live performances and touring were limited. The Artiste however adapted to this change in full capacity, leaning more into the digital space to influence music consumption and even discovery. 

The gospel industry witnessed an array of talents emerge in the past year. The introduction of the Afro sound and now Amapiano in gospel music has continued to pave way for acts Proteniks, Limoblaze, Gaise Baba, Angeloh e.t.c. and the rise of acts like Rehmahz, Marizu etc. 2022 promises to be an even more exciting year for the Afro Gospel music scene already basking in an abundance of sounds.

Here are 8 talents sure to assert dominance in the Afro Gospel music scene come 2022.

Greatman Takit
Greatman dominated the gospel music scene in 2021 and there’s no debating that. Signed under Same Energy, helmed by Dr Foy. From starting the year with a year with a hit song titled ‘Energy’ (arguably one of the biggest Afro gospel songs in 2021) to releasing his first body of work in the last five years titled ‘Energy EP’ which was released on 18th June 2021 is Greatman Takit’s first project in 5 years. The last one being ‘Wildfire’ which was released in 2016. The last one being ‘Wildfire’ which was released in 2016. The project comprised 7 tracks namely Story, Peteru(Peter), Energy, my daddy, Jowo, Bulie and Super lover which are majorly Afropop.

In October, he released a song which he described as “Our response” as believers to the incident that happened at the Lekki Toll Gate in October 20,2020. He featured Minister Nosa on the song titled ‘We Prevail’ and the song has been a major blessing.

Apart from the numerous features from artists like DJ Horphuray, Ty Bello, Paul Rarity e.t.c., he perhaps was also one of the most invited Afro Gospel artists by churches. Greatman seems to not be stopping as he is also set to drop another single before the end of 2021. All this points to the fact the Greatman is gathering momentum for dominance come 2022 and we are here for it.

Limoblaze is one of the Afro gospel artists catching the attention of many with his style of music. He launched 2021 with a single titled ‘Mind’, the visuals for this song has more than 300k views on youtube. Asides having significant international features, his 2021 album was a major statement for the Afro gospel scene.
Limoblaze keeps moving the culture internationally and announcing the Afro Gospel movement to the world. His recent engagement to His fiancee, is surely a motivation for Limoblaze as he released a Love song titled ” Loving you’ and also made his first attempt on a Drill track.

2022 will be eventful, as for Limoblaze it will be a time for more drills and Love songs.



Rehmahz is one afro gospel artist that deserves lots of credit. He puts so much into his art and embraces the Art of collaboration. After strings of collaborations that saw the singer become a sensation.

In 2021 he made a collaborative project with A’mose and Obareengy and they were great. His latest single ‘Satisfy’ ft King Dmusic has garnered 10,000 plus streams on spotify in less than five days which is major for the artiste, to crown it all, he got his first international award as Media choice WOW gospel artiste of the year an award from Gospel Touch Music Awards 2021. 
The name Rehmahz is fast becoming a household name in the Afro gospel scene andin 2022 we don’t envisage anything less.
Proud Refuge
Proud Refuge, is an award-winning afro fusion recording artist, rapper, song-writer, entrepreneur  and kingdom advocate.
Proud’s desire to reach the misunderstood and communicate hope to those who have been rejected by society is his driving force.
HIs first single in 2021 single titled ‘How you dey’ which was a trap song laid the foundation for the latest single ‘I Never Knew’ featuring Marizu and Limobaze and all this points to the fact that something big is coming in 2022 and it is going to be massive.
Prinx Emmanuel

Sensational Artist and music producer, Prinx Emmanuel is definitely one to look out for in 2022, He and his band Elixir made major moves in 2021 creating musical masterpieces, one of which went viral because of the unique Amapiano sound. 

His annual concert Reverb, was mind blowing as it was way bigger than the first edition, some of the guest appearances were Oxlade, Tim Godfrey, Banky W and others. All indications are pointing to the fact that a project is coming in 2022 and you know when it’s Prinx it’s going to be hot.
HFP’s Afro Gospel sensation, Marizu, He is one of the few artists that has made a solid ground in the Afro Gospel scene in a very short period. Marizu Ikechi’s voice on any song stands out, his input on any song is beyond the norm and this in turn is a plus for the superstar. If these feats are anything to go by, marizu is definitely one to keep an eye on come 2022.
Nolly Nwa
The Afro gospel singer and rapper is one artist that stands out as he can be a rapper when he wants to be and even switch to Afro Gospel when he so chooses. Nolly has been on the Afrogospel scene for good while making music in Igbo language and switching to English when necessary.
The artist has a strong presence in Latin countries and 2021 saw that increase. For the artist 2022 its world stage.
Sal Ly
Sal Ly is a fast rising Nigerian Gospel artist. Since the release of her single, “Translucent” four years ago, her movement as an artist has been one of immense growth and critical acclaim with each following drop. One of the most dominant ladies in the Afro gospel scene. In 2021 she raked major features and sure left her footprint in the sands of those songs. She is in this list because she is a force to look out for come 2022.
