Is Marizu Under rated?

There are so many outstanding artists who passed under the radar. Undetected by mainstream media, radio stations… unrecognized and ignored, it’s either bad timing or they get lost in trends
The kind of artist who connects, on a shared frequency, in tune – perfect harmony, – cracking your codes, revealing keys you never knew you were seeking – helping you close all doors you left open to scratch your wounds and scars, now left in the past.

Marizu is one artiste who puts in lots of work and gets little credit, he has been around in the industry for not so long but comes from a legacy that has long been in the gospel scene. He hardly gets the plaudits he deserves. He is definitely an artist raking in figures on online music sites as he makes quality songs anytime he puts out a record.

Marizu Ikechi is a Nigerian musician, Gospel singer born in 1998. He is the son of gospel reggae singer Bushi Ikechi.

Despite being the son of a living legend, he has strived and built a path for himself. There is no doubt that he brings valuable contribution to the industry through his songwriting, sound and collaborations. August 2019 when the news of Marizu’s signing with HFP Music was posted on social media, it definitely caught everyone’s attention and if you have heard any of Marizu’s tracks you will understand why.

Marizu Ikechi Atuonwu comes from a family of recording artists and as far back as he can remember, music has been a vital part of his upbringing. Even with such a strong musical influence growing up, it wasn’t until the age of 16 that he joined his church choir and kicked off his music career. His first single ‘Chosen’ was released on his 21st birthday after graduating from University.

The single ‘chosen’ as at September 2020 has more than one million views on youtube. His 2019 hit single ’looku looku’ has raked in 1.4million views on youtube as at 29 September 2020. No doubt Marizu is one artist that’s raking in good numbers. However he does not get the rating he deserves. His first body of work was released on the 28th of august 2020 titled Chapter 1 Volume 1 The EP. The EP had grossed 62,000 plus streams after a month of its release. The EP features new school artist Mayo and has four tracks. Marizu recently announced on his social media account that the release for chapter 1 Vol 2 of the EP will be out by the 2nd of october 2020.

Marizu has certainly come a long way since he started and now has a fast growing fan-base. His uniquely identifiable voice sets him apart from the pack and is complimented by a writing style that stands out as heaven sent inspirational-fodder. There is no doubt that Marizu is making waves in the Afro-pop gospel scene yet he doesn’t get the credit he deserves!!!
