J Dust: Funny enough some Christians are criticizing the song oh… Saying it is wrong to say God’s love is reckless… That reckless is not a good word.

Olaronke : Really? I never thought of it

J Dust: That’s their problem sha.  Looking at my life… I know God has loved me recklessly… They can be arguing with their dictionary

Titi: There is a live performance of the song that explains what they meant by reckless

J Dust: They shouldn’t have bothered to explain. They get time oh… First time I heard that song was when I saw an IG post of soldiers singing that song… So touching… Seeing soldiers sing it with so much sobriety… For a soldier whose next breath might be his last he will value God’s love well

Titi: I’m not sure they explained because of the criticism sha. I just know the live one had a bit of an explanation. Shey that’s how they criticized “What a Beautiful name”

J Dust: That what? It should have been; “What an ugly name”?

Titi: It was the lyrics not the title

J Dust: Say wetin

Titi: I think it was the part about “you didn’t want heaven without us”. I didn’t kuku understand what they said was wrong with it sef. Something about it being heresy

J Dust: People that have never sat down to write just one line of a song will just stay somewhere and be criticizing well crafted lyrics

Cynthia: All this people sef.  That’s how they had a problem with “heaven kissed earth like a sloppy wet kiss”.  Me that I loved that line.

J Dust: They have a problem with that again???? Maybe we should all just be saying “praise the Lord” and “hallelujah” alone in our songs. But wait… I’m just thinking about it… Sloppy wet kiss!!! I understand the criticism. Lol!

Titi: When I heard that line too… I was like wait what?? But I actually understood what they meant. I think it’s because we are so conscious of not wanting to include anything that may pertain to the physical in our worship that we forget the place of metaphor. It’s actually my favourite line in the song

Cynthia: *Sighs*. It has been all about Him na. You chose to read something else. You and Okikiola ??

J Dust: Cynthia, first you said “It’s like ALL of you IN that person” and then you said ”You married folks should understand na”.  Are you saying God only loves married people?

(*Cynthia should have known at this point that she was just being teased. Lol!*)

Cynthia: I’m saying God’s love to us is like that between man and wife

Cynthia: That’s why the Bible calls the church, the bride of Christ

Okizle: I’m aware God loves us like little children. I don’t know what you’re saying. ?

Cynthia: You’ve never heard the Bible call the church, the Bride of Christ? I would like to think there is a growth process in Christ. He can’t keep seeing us as Children. Children don’t take responsibility. They can’t handle a certain level of giving out of love. Let me explain, God loves us like a father loves his children, yea? Good. Can you give a Child an estate to run or a chain of business to handle?  Because you love the Child? No. The loves progresses as the child grow into an adult. I’d like to think it’s the same with God.

Olaronke: So we start getting wet slippery kisses as adult. I likey. God is so sweet

Cynthia: It’s not in the kisses like kisses na. It speaks of intimacy.
