Random Naughty Thotz 054 (DO YOUR PARENTS TELL YOU I LOVE YOU?)

Olaronke: Please who has a rich friend that can take me to Italy just for lunch like Serena Williams husband

J Dust: Sober

TeeSala: I am howling

Mide: Reflector?

J Dust: All of you underestimating the boy… My God will fight for him. He will still make it in life

Olaronke: I don’t want to be sober on such trips! I want to be lively and fun… enjoying every bit of it

J Dust: Sober is lively and fun. He is a comedian. He will make you laugh. He doesnt need to take you to Italy to make you feel like you are in Italy

Olaronke: Hahaha

J Dust: God should sha give us money. No big deal in this… This guy didn’t do anything except to just have money in this life. What is creative about giving your GF a porshe and naming it after your present single. Let’s just have money in this life. We will be romantic. I will carry my wife to France and give her a diamond necklace in a restaurant close to the beach and you will say I’m not romantic? Ko possible

Olaronke: Money is important. But then, the stress of getting visa in Nigeria is enough discouragement

J Dust: If you are rich you will get visa

Toun: Please, has any of your parents ever said “I love you” to you? If not, has it affected you in any way? If yes, did it make it easier for you to profess love to another in a relationship?

J Dust: My parents don’t say it. They shouldn’t start now. It is too late. I will just freak out.

Titi: My dad says it all the time. Right from when we were kids. I remember I used to feel weird sometimes saying it back. But that’s because I’m more like my mum when it comes to expressing feelings. She doesn’t say it all the time like my dad but she does sometimes.

J Dust: Titi that doesn’t have feelings. Lol! Wait so your dad tells Bayo I love u?

Toun: Why are you like this.

Titi: I don’t know about now. But I’m pretty sure he used to say it when we were younger. He doesn’t even say it to us now all the time like he used to. We stopped being cute and became annoying kids??

J Dust: Well for me… Not growing up in that I Love u atmosphere made me less ‘romantic’… But you know this world is becoming somehow. Imagine telling your fully endowed daughter ‘I love u With all these cases of dads raping their daughters

Titi: It’s a warped world we live in. But it’s the proper thing to do. No big deal. I’m not moved when they say it these days

J Dust: Come to think of it… I don’t think I can tell my kids I love you fa. I have to start working on myself. I can play with them, joke with them, throw pillows, roll on sand… But to say J Dust Jnr I love u’ It is sounding cheesy in advance. Lol!

Toun: Loool. None of my parents ever said it. But they showed it. My parents can sacrifice anything for my brother and I, so I guess it wasn’t necessary

J Dust: It is not about saying it abeg…. Talk is cheap

Mide: Looool. This happened to me when I was in the university. My mum said I love you on the phone, I remember looking at my phone like ehen warris happening. I told my sister she was like she too she is shocked o. And that is it how it started. Me I thought it was too late sef cos it felt very weird. Did it affect me I don’t know o. But I know I hate it when people say it especially boys if they don’t mean it because they think it what every girl wants to hear. Which sucks because am I like okay… Thank you. So even when my bf said it to me sef it felt a little bit like pressure cos I was not ready to say it.

Toun: It’s so annoying the way boys throw “i love you around.

Titi: I think at the end of the day, it depends on the personality of the child (although upbringing partly shapes the personality of the child). Some people need to hear those words. They might not understand sacrifice

J Dust: Me I don’t throw it around. It is why I had been labelled unromantic. Bcos I think girls love to hear it…
Toun: Please not all girls love to hear it
Toun: But I’ve told my mother I love her and i have to specifically ask her to say she loves me back. I only tell my dad I love him on his birthday or father’s day and it’s via text. At the end of the whole touchy message, I’ll just add “I love you Dad”

Titi: I’m not really expressive but I only say things like that seriously when I truly mean it. And so I don’t want to hear it except you mean it.

J Dust: Titi with no feelings. Loool!

Titi: I’ve heard this a million times. I just don’t like to say things I don’t mean or I can’t hold myself to after a short while. I’d rather do things for the person than say it

Toun: See, you can say it but only when necessary. Because I’m not used to hearing it, when someone says it, I’m usually shocked and then I want to enter the ground. And then when I can’t enter the ground, I’ll just say something stupid, then I’ll regret the moment for the rest of my days

Titi: I usually just say a very long “ooookkkaaayyyy”

Mide: I remember this time I was talking to titilope on the phone and I said I love you excitedly she was like errr okay. But me I was excited because it was the first time I will say it without pressure or not to family or without someone asking me to. So it meant a lot to me saying it to someone else except my sister.

Wolz: Do y’all sing this song in church? “I love you, you love me, we all are part of God’s body” Have you ever noticed how some people look away when singing this song?

Titi: When they sing this song, most times I realise I don’t mean it. So I look away and then pray in my heart that God helps me to actually love people the way he loves.

Toun: I’ve never sang this song in church. Or anywhere. Only on my own. But I will probably not participate if they’re singing it in church and asking us to face people ?

Olaronke: Every conversation with my mum ends with I love you from her. If she doesn’t say it, I might be worried she has been kidnapped or something. My dad has never told me sha, has it affected me? I don’t know…. me I love boys regardless

Cynthia: For me, I didnt grow up hearing it but at some point, I think when I got born again, I got more in touch with my feelings. I would call my parents and say Love you daddy, love you mummy and they would say alright, bye. Dad always started our conversations with baby girl, how far na so the conversation becomes too pidgin for someone to switch to “I love you”. But I started changing the tone by picking and saying, Hi dad. So he assumes I’m in a place I can’t do pidgin and I’m able to maintain the English and then say I love you. Long story short, he says it back now. Even said it first a few times. But you see my mum… That woman! She’s your alarm clock (even if you’re many seas and mountains away), cook for you in Lagos and send to you in the north, kind of mum. Sacrifices, actions are how she says the L word

Wolz: My parents don’t say it though, but at least they show it

Toun: But is it compulsory to say it to our children? Do we have to change the trend or it’s not really a big deal?
Titi: I think we should actually say it to them. They should hear it. It actually helps a lot of them.

Mide: I think it helps them in the long run cos some kids like me might get it if you don’t say it. Some might not, so to err on the side of caution and break the cycle… Yes.

Olaronke: We have to say it oo… I will say it every minute of every day if I have to.

Titi: Especially when they are really young.

Toun: When I thought about it, I felt that since I turned out okay then maybe it isn’t compulsory.

J Dust: (interrupts)Who told you you turned out ok? Lol

Toun: Looll! Well.. the only part of my life it has affected is that I can’t say it back without feeling like there’s hot puff puff lodged in my throat. My brother doesn’t have the same issue. So… *shrugs*
