Music Review: Monica Ogah’s new single “The REASON” | Good or Bad

So I was on my couch this Sunday morning with thoughts in my mind probably because I missed out of church. Whola I got an alert (No money alert). It was a whatsapp broadcast message. In my usual way, I reached for my phone and opened the message. Gbam it was a new song release by the former winner of MTN Project Fame West Africa “Monica Ogah”. To say the least I wasn’t expecting a song like this from her. Don’t ask me why I said so. I’m also not judging her.

Let’s take walk back to who is Monica Ogah? Monica Ene Ogah (born August 7, 1990), commonly known as Monica Ogah, is a Nigerian singer, the 2011 winner of the fourth edition of MTN Project Fame West Africa.  Before the fame, she was featured in lots of gospel songs. Her winning Project Fame is not far fetch as Monica is naturally endowed with the vocal power that can cause the deaf to hear. I will give it to Monica when it comes to her ability to deliver on any song. Her voice is alone is medicine. But a gospel song after many years of abandoning her first love?

Enough said can we go to the song now?

Starting up with the piano and a soft laid voice by Monica will hold you captive to know where next to song is headed.

It will be worthy of mention that her fusion of igbo is not knew looking her background and previous record. Reciting the goodness of God in Igbo which basically forms the centre of the song. Her vocal power on the Reason is definitely a good sign that Monica Ogah still has it in her even when it seems she abandoned doing any Christian Music in the past three to four years.

Monica communicated her emotion and passion exactly at 4.03 to 4.30min in Yoruba and a mix of her dialect Idoma. This passion exacted is contagious and tells you who vulnerable she is to God at this point and nothing else matters.

The Reason was well delivered vocally, simple yet inspiring. We hope the release is a sign of more songs to come in future.  It’s a great news to us and we can’t wait for more.

Monica deserves my score and I rate her 8/10. Leave us a comment on your thoughts.
